Think half full

"Think half full" you
said, as you grinned that
stupid grin. She lay on the
bathroom floor and you with
that kitchen knife in hand
the blood running down your
pale fingers. The stench
hovering over her eyelids

"Think half full" you
said, as you smiled at me
during one of those nights
you used to teach me math
the geometry of triangles
and stars, the battered
textbook lit by your bright
eyes and eternal smile.

"Think half full" you
said, from your jail cell.
So those hours you think
about what you gave,
lost, what was done or been
there is no advice other
than for me to tell you
just to, "Think half full"
