entropy

Melancholic pitch-black sirens
slash a hard beat into her ears
as she stares high into the sky

the rush of smoke collapses her
lungs as she struggles to breathe
and her tense spring of adrenaline
dies to a peaceful calm. The

air quivers somewhat thankfully
to signify the return
of a broke, normal world

the pavement around her burned
with furious tire trails that
were seconds late for
the beginning and an end.

I shoot a long glance back
but there is nothing left
and I turn away forever

Silence.
