Fallen Luminescence

The sweet heat between
molar and canine, wet
with the blood from my
pinked gums. A shiver
shade washing through
the back of my head,
blurry thoughts orbiting
the space around my
loose eyes, which
peer wistfully out at
the burning stars,
short lifetimes away.
A wondrously deep
wealth of golds
which shine into dark
eyes, a mixture of
both brevity and
timelessness, a clock
wishing to tick, and
waiting to tock.
Terrified, I stare up
at the seemingly
endless masses, who
cringe and sweat
through the dew and
frost, and prepare
myself for the world
in the jar. A lifetime
soon over, to be
joined and joined
again. A time before
the summer awaits,
and a shine for
another time.

Loosely-based on fireflies in the summertime, and the changing seasons. I thought of the firefly as I wrote this (and thus, the jar).
