Past Real Time

Words spoken in question
surely rarer than lidless eyes
of the frozen celadon sea.

Childhood...
My memories of fear from
watching Unsolved Mysteries
alone. A child wondering if
I would be the newest
disappeared, universe graced
by my stellar
celebrity, devoid
of meaningful existence.

A politician's back-alley
parlor trick, wowing those
who don the winter veil.
But reality speaks as
a trick that couldn't fool His
own dog, and practice
somehow worsened it.

He showed us,
The atrophy of wicked smiles
turned to an injured smirk
then to a bashful frown,
finally, a disappearance
of expression, but a ghost left
haunting wet pavement,
crash of rain all 'round.

Lustrous glass shards on
cancerous saucer china.
Hands gripping tightly
but shaking, offering
the vanity of time, or
at least a gift of value.

But then, the cacophony
of Shanghai's opera finale.

And
Left again with words unsaid.
Again I disappear, never to return.
